Asif Ali a Pakistani middle-order hard-hitting batsman was born on October 1, 1991, in Faisalabad Punjab, Pakistan. He is a right-handed batsman and by bowling, he is a right-arm off-break bowler. At the domestic level he represented Faisalabad in 2010, In PSL he represented Islamabad United and also played for so many other teams like Pokhara Rhinos, Cape Town Blitz, Northern and Jamaica Tallawahs.
Misbah-ul-Ha the former Pakistan Cricket Head Coach played an important role in the development of Asif Ali in 2011 when Misbah-ul-Haq was the captain of Faisalabad in the Super 8 Twenty 20 trophy. He utilized him as a hard-hitting batsman and later on he performed his role very well.
In the 2018 Quaid-e-Azam trophy, he ended as the highest run-scorer for Faisalabad as he scored 369 runs in only 6 matches. Misbah-ul-Haq also brought him in PSL as he was leading the team of Islamabad United and here he also used Asif Ali as a power hitter in the team.
Later on, Asif Ali got selected for Pakistan’s T20I squad in March 2018 and He made his debut against West Indies on 1 April 2018. On July 13, 2018, he also made his ODI debut for the country against Zimbabwe.
Although his international career is not quite satisfying till now but his match-winning performances in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup against Afghanistan and New Zealand were quite satisfying. He scored 25 of just 7 balls against Afghanistan which was a match-winning performance and it earned him the player of the match award. Due to his good performances at crucial stages in the World cup, he also earned the Player of the Month award in November 2021.
Pakistan was in the deep search of a hard-hitting batsman in the middle order after the retirement of Shahid Afridi but finally, they have got Asif Ali who can perform as a hard-hitting batsman for Pakistan at crucial stages.
